Solar, lunar and planetary returns Pro
A return is a chart for the moment a planet comes back to its natal position. The solar return happens once a year around your birthday and describes the year. The lunar return happens once a month.
Methods in “Forecast”
| Method | When the chart is cast |
|---|---|
| Solar return | Sun on its natal degree, once a year |
| Lunar return | Moon on its natal degree, about every 27 days |
| Mercury … Pluto return | The planet on its natal degree |
| Phase lunar return | The Sun–Moon angle repeats the natal one |
| Small solar return | The Sun has moved a multiple of 30° from natal |
| Daily solar return | The same in 1° steps, every day |
| Terrar (Earth return) | Sidereal time repeats the natal one, every day |
| Relocation (natal chart for place of residence) | The birth chart recast for another place |
The app takes the last return before the “Forecast for” date.
Place of residence
Returns are cast for where you are. Fill in “Current place of residence” under “More”: city, latitude, longitude, time zone. Without it, the birthplace is used. A solar return cast in a different city gets different houses, which is the idea behind traveling for your birthday.
Example
- Build the birth chart.
- Under “More”, set “Forecast” to “Solar return”.
- Set “Forecast for (local)” to any date after your most recent birthday.
- Click “Build chart”.
The outer ring is the solar return. Below the tables, “Solar return year” interprets the return Ascendant and the houses of the return Sun and Moon. For the full report use “Menu → Reports → Solar return year (PDF)” (PDF reports).
